Electronic Waste Collection - "e-waste":
The Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act prohibits any person from allowing or to cause mixing of any of the items listed with municipal waste that is intended for disposal at a landfill.
Groot Industries offers collection of these items directly from your home for an additional fee; however, you must call in advance to schedule a pick-up and make arrangements.
All items collected will be recycled and rendered inoperable. Due to the sensitive nature of some electronic items (computer hard drives or storage devices), we prefer to pick up items from the front, side, or top of drive locations.
Customers also have the option to bring their items directly to drop-off sites throughout the area, most of which are for no charge. Please visit the where and how page of our site and click on your county and then your town to search for area drop–off locations.

Yard Waste
Program:
State
law requires us to pick up yard waste
separately from general waste. Our program begins on April 1st and runs through the first full week of December. At the discretion of the Village, the December date for yard waste may be extended for one more full week. Leaves and grass clippings
must be placed in two-ply, 30 gallon, Kraft type paper bags and bags must not weigh more than 50 pounds
each. Yard waste in plastic bags will NOT be collected. Plastic
tape and silver duct tape must not be used to close the bag because it will not decompose in the compost. Brush and
small limbs must be tied into bundles with twine or string and may not exceed 4 ft in length, 2 ft. in diameter, or
50 pounds. Logs greater than 6 inches do not require a sticker and should be disposed of with garbage; there is a 2
cubic yard limit. Residents that are in a town home association are exempt from yard waste pick up.
Grass clippings, leaves, twigs, garden debris, weeds, fruits, seeds, stalks, vines are acceptable landscape items. Landscape does not include wood timbers, plastic edging, plant pots or trays, fertilizer or landscape material bags, landscape fabric, root sections, sand, gravel, sod, firewood, rocks, wood chips, bark, excess amounts of dirt or animal waste.
Christmas Trees:
Christmas trees will be collected on you regular collection day.
Appliances:
State law requires us to collect any
white good type of appliance such as refrigerators, ovens; washers etc. separately and recycle them. Appliances are
picked up
on Wednesday for an additional fee to residents. Please call Groot 24 hours in advance to schedule a pick up.
Special pick-ups and extra garbage:
If you find you need extra rubbish picked up on a day other than your normal service day or you have more than 2 cubic yards of construction type debris there will be an extra charge.
Oversized/Overweight Items:
Some items are just too big or heavy for our people to handle
without special equipment, in that case your driver may have to leave it so special arrangements can be made. There
will be no extra charge for oversized/overweight items. Please call and check first if you think what you have
placed out falls in this category and to schedule a pickup.
